Gladiatus - Hero of Rome

Gladiatus is, unsuprisingly, a Roman gladiator game in which you create and develop your own gladiator and fight for honor, fame and riches. It is a multiplayer which requires you to sign up for a free membership account before you can play. As it’s a large online game rather than one of the small flash ones I can’t embed it into this post, so I’ll just tell you a bit about it and then let you decide whether you want to give it a go.
When you first start his game you can’t actually fight, you need to go up a level before you enter the arena. You start of with a bit of gold, but no honor or fame, which you must earn for yourself, and no rubies, which are used to buy your way into the best jobs (like centurian) and to buy influence and get the best things.
You can earn money and other bonuses by choosing a job to do. You choose how long you want to work for, and then this is counted down in real time, meaning that there is very little by can do until you have finished your shift. Other aspects of the game also have this kind of real time countdown and it can be a bit annnoying having to wait before you can do anything - its definitely not one to have a quick game of - but as someone who works online it doesn’t bother me too much cos I just let it run while I open a new window and do something else at the same time.
As well as work there are various missions that you can accept by visiting the tavern, and they will earn you both gold and experience points. You can spend your gold on training to improve various characteristics of your gladiator, on weapons and armour, or on various potions from the alchemist.
There is a map with several areas for you to explore and people to visit outside of the actual city of Rome where all of this happens.
There is a forum where you can meet and interact with other players, perhaps finding ‘guild’ to join or later on creating your own, but there isn’t a huge amount of activity on th forum to be honest.
Overall I giveis game 6 out of 10; its fairly averge really, but if the whole gladiator thing appeals to you, and you have a decent amount of time to kill, I’ sure you’ll really enjoy it.

This is an interesting little free game based on the Indonesian martial art of the same name. You start off fighting with punches and kicks but then as you go on you can buy weapons and various potions. You can even combine things that you collect, such as putting sharp stones with poison to create poison darts. You also get to create your own character with a few options to change hairstyles, clothes etc. The actual fighting is quite basic and mainly involves button bashing, but its still an attractive game with elements that you don’t usually get in free online flash games, and its worth a go just for these:
